How Sweet, Lord, To Abide

When I awake each morning free
And unto thee my blessings raise
When I release my thanks and praise
I am not far from thee

I am not far from thee, o God,
I am not far from thee
When I rise up to give thee laud
I am not far from thee

When in thy holy book I dwell
And meditate on Scripture dear
How close we are, Lord, and how near
How near, Lord, I can tell

How close we are, Lord and how near
How close we are, how near
When my delights stem from thy Word
How close we are, how near

And when upon my bed I lie
Remembering thy faithfulness
What peace abounds! All restlessness
Within is satisfied!

How sweet it is in thee, o Lord,
How sweet, Lord, to abide
O, may it ever be, Lord: I
In thee, and thee in I
