Reflection on Psalm 27

Whom shall I fear, with trouble near,
Of whom shall I be sore afraid?
The debt no longer stands unpaid:
I will be heard when I shall cry
And I shall stand protected by
The Lord, my Light whom I hold dear
He promises to hold me near
Though yet disowned and left alone
By those I cherish, I will rise
And to the Lord lift up mine eyes
Believing to have seen His hand
Before I fainted in this land
My heart was strengthened as a stone
When I sought thine and not mine own
Now fear has fled with all my woes –
I am delivered of my foes
